How Are Women Portrayed As Victims English Literature Essay
How Are Women Portrayed As Victims English Literature Essay The depiction of ladies as casualties is one of the key topics introduced all through Othello, Jane Eyre and The Color Purple. The authors utilize story and plot as vehicles to challenge the social mentalities of the period in which they are set. The ladies in the writings are exposed to three types of affliction: physical, verbal and mental; in which the crowd/peruser find how ladies were dealt with and have the chance to consider how the drive for social change was conceived. Shakespeares play Othello presents ladies through the eyes of the kindred male characters, anyway there is some self-portrayal by the female characters; albeit significantly less as often as possible. The Color Purple by Alice Walker is an acclaimed epistolary novel, indicating the life and excursion of Celie, a poor dark lady who has remained unaware of affection in her life. Walker utilizes her as a vehicle to challenge the American culture and to portray the mercilessness of the cold-bloodedness which dark ladies persevered through day by day. At last, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte portrays the account of a young lady on an excursion of adoration and self-acknowledgment; in a naturally bildungsroman kind, yet with components of gothic classification too. The eponymous champion in Jane Eyre is appeared as a lady enduring for an incredible duration in this general public, as an informed, clever, yet poor young lady who is ignored and unacquainted with affection. Jane is in a battle to shake off the social congruities push onto her, in the mean time adapting to mental and physical maltreatment from her bosses in societal position. The most conspicuous type of misuse present in Othello, towards the female characters, is mental maltreatment; the major thoughts, perspectives and qualities the men have and how they carry on around the female characters. Othello is a Jacobean vengeance catastrophe written in around 1603. In spite of Elizabeth I ruling over England so far, ladies in Britain despite everything stayed lethargic in the public arena, having practically no rights or status; the main status they could pick up would be through marriage. This is the place we can see the reason for why ladies were treated as property in this time, because of the significance of cash; where fathers can tie down fortune by wedding their girls to well off nobles. In Othello the three ladies, Desdemona, Emilia and Bianca are exposed to approach measures of misuse, despite the fact that Bianca is the just one to get by in the play. Desdemona isn't acquainted with the crowd by name until she is available in front of an audience, which is the principal sign of the docile female status. She is just alluded to as a bit of property by the other male characters, Look to your home, your girl and your things, indicating how Iago is alluding to her as a bit of stuff, in the midst of his family unit and other property. This reference features her evident irrelevance, yet in addition her second rate position as a female as, much can imagine the crowd, she appears to be not able to intercede and should watch her better half separate through distrustfulness. Furthermore, the way that Brabantio isn't insulted by this comment shows how he expects Desdemona to concede to his desires and how this demeanor was normal in this period. While Desdemona is a casualty because of her sex, there are different factors likewise outside her ability to control which cause her further misery. There are evident likenesses to the way underestimated characters are introduced, regardless of whether it is because of sex, race or conviction. Along these lines, while we see the differentiation in living condition among male and female characters in a white male centric culture, we can likewise watch the inconspicuous similitudes, especially between dark men, for example, Othello and ladies, for example, Desdemona, and how dark men are exposed to mock by white men and how this aggregation influences ladies. Iagos murder of Emilia and trickery of Othello could likewise come from the general scorn of ladies that he shows; Jeremy Abrams proposed that Iagos intention in double-crossing Othello is a fundamental gay love for him, and the desire of Desdemona that comes close by this. Numerous pundits has excused this proposal, yet there is proof in the play which vou ches for this hypothesis, for example, the two-section trade among himself and Othello in Act 3 Scene 3 Iago doth surrender the execution of his mind, hands, heart, to wronged Othellos administration. This is like a trade of promises at a wedding as they are both kneelt, making a picture of marriage. In spite of this, Iago is a capable reprobate for he can corrupt the solid, wilful Othello, control his dedicated spouse into turning out to be a piece of the plan and damning Desdemona, all through the finesse utilization of one of the center ideas of any relationship: trust. This astute, yet deadly utilization of trust drives Othello into distrustfulness and to the inevitable homicide of his blameless spouse Desdemona. In the Victorian setting of Jane Eyre 200 years after the fact, ladies appear to have accomplished a few advantages or decisions in their lives; albeit again cash is fundamental in allowing them the chance. Ladies like Jane were women of honor who were semi-poor, and needed to work. The main advantageous job was as a tutor, and it didn't convey a lot of regard. Brontes investigation of the social situation of tutors in Victorian England shows how class partition between females can prompt further disregard. There is proof of this from the slandering comments from Blanche, You ought to hear mom on the section of tutors: Mary and I have had, I should think, twelve at any rate in our day; half of them terrible and the rest strange, and all incubi. Jane is in a somewhat intricate circumstance, as her training has been amazing and she has encountered adolescence in a well off way of life, she has a feeling of self-esteem and poise, trust in God, sound ethics and an energetic air. Be that as it may, over the span of the novel, her respectability is tried on numerous occasions as a young lady, and Jane must figure out how to adjust the much of the time clashing parts of herself and the restrictions of being a tutor, so as to discover satisfaction in adoration and freedom. There are occurrences which feature this partition and identify with Desdemonas circumstance, for example, the time Jane spent at Lowood as a little youngster, where the peruser looks at how Mrs. Scatcherd drives her to remain on the stool for the remainder of the exercise because of hearing deluding updates on Janes youth, trailed by Brocklehursts out of line tormenting of Jane under this bogus data; This young lady, this youngster, the local of a Christian land, more regrettable than numerous a little pagan who says its supplications to Brahma and bows before Juggernaut this young lady is a liar. In spite of Desdemona and Jane being exposed to a similar sort of misuse, the contrast between the two is that Desdemona is exposed to this by a male, though Jane is exposed to this by another female; featuring this additional component to female experiencing different females. Jane is in a persistent battle to conquer abuse and accomplish uniformity. She should likewise battle against male mastery, close by class pecking order, as her journey for self-uprightness acts like a danger to men in the male centric culture. There are three key guys in the novel, Mr. Brocklehurst, Edward Rochester, and St. John Rivers, who undermine her objective of correspondence. Every stop Jane communicating her own contemplations and sentiments by keeping her in a devoted state. Her reluctance to include her honesty powers her refusal of Rochesters proposition as Jane accepts that she ought not make herself a fancy woman to Rochester while he, lawfully, stays wedded to Bertha; not even to satisfy her enthusiastic needs. Incomprehensibly, her time spent at Moor House drives her to encounter monetary inde pendence and important, educative work to demonstrate that she can genuinely turn into her own lady; yet in this condition she needs passionate food. With respect to St. John proposition marriage, Jane decreases realizes the marriage would be founded on the comfort as opposed to any feeling, and can along these lines decay the offer, as opposed to deny her enthusiastic requirements for a spouse. Jane later explains her decision when she says, I am my spouses life as completely as he is mine. . . . To be together is for us to be without a moment's delay as free as in isolation, as gay as in organization. . . . We are absolutely fit in character-flawless accord is the outcome. The Color Purple additionally depicts the steady mental upsets of twentieth century dark ladies, and the consistent dread of harsh spouses. In spite of the fact that we see the freedom of white ladies becoming throughout the years between the composition of Othello and of Jane Eyre, for dark ladies this mistreatment stays consistent. At the point when dark individuals were brought over toward the western world as slaves, they needed education as were considered second rate, prompting their steady mistreatment. In spite of white and dark ladies being in discrete social foundation, the brutalisation and undermining of dark men in the public eye implied their treatment of ladies was no better than the manner in which white men treated ladies. Celie, the focal character in The Color Purple serves to show how, also to Desdemona, Bianca and Emilia, dark ladies were casualties of extraordinary types of misuse, essentially because of the exploitation which dark men had to suffer through the slave exchange the white ruled society of the twentieth Century. Since the beginning, Celie guarantees her endurance by making herself for all intents and purposes imperceptible; the main methods for self articulation or determination which she has are in her letters to God. The reason for this lies with her stepfather, Alphonso, who truly, loudly and explicitly mishandles her since early on, yet she quells any counter; differentiating enormously to perspective on Jane (even since early on) yet practically identical to Desdemonas idle endeavors to shield herself at the peak of the play. Further down the road she responds in an also inert way when exposed to the maltreatment of her significant other Mr._____. Notwithstanding, we see a change

Letââ¬â¢s begin with the extensive amount of geography that is Russia in comparison to the rest of the world. Russia has the worldââ¬â¢s longest continuous coastline, which means that there is more of the country of Russia that touches water than any other country in the world. The climate of Russia, however, is not the most ideal conditions as a large portion of the country is in the Arctic climate zone in the subarctic climate zone, which means it is very cold and has very little access to water for trading or anything else for that matter. To resolve this issue, Russia relies heavily on access to the warm waterâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦On the other hand, Russia has had a rough past in regards to the most famous Chernobyl power plant disaster. It was noted as the worst nuclear power plant disaster in history as it took about 500,00 0 rescue workers to help clean up the radioactive debris and it was estimated that deaths ranged between 30,000 and 200,000 deaths. If people did not die from this, they could have been affected by radioactive exposure, which can cause radiation developing cancer at an early age in children, stillbirths with being born with birth defects. This ultimately led the fallout of the city of Kiev, where everyone was evacuated from the area and remains an empty place that lies within Russia. It has been stated that there is still radioactive radiation that fills the air in Kiev even after 31 years of it occurring. Russia has had an interesting upbringing in the pathway of becoming a powerful nation as it stands today. Russiaââ¬â¢s roots started all the way back in the 8-9th century with the migrating slavic groups including the Huns, Samaritans, Turks, and the Persians. The Voices Against War By Thomas Hardy - 1151 Words
The Voices Against Wars of Many The voicing of opinions against war was not made common until around the eighteen-hundreds. War was always considered an opportunity for glory and a chance to prove oneââ¬â¢s self to his or her fellow soldier and his or her country. However, with the advancement in technological warfare and physical battle becoming more gruesome, many felt the need to speak out against the activity of war. Thomas Hardy voices his opinion on the second Boer War through poetry. The second Boer War witnessed some of the beginnings of more accurate cannons and propelled explosives, giving South Africa a strong resistance to Great Britain. Wilfred Owen witnessed first-hand of the horrors of World War I with a price of his life. He wrote poetry vividly describing his treacherous experience on the battlefield. Also Randall Jarrell, served in World War II and used his experience to write an anti-war poem with the imagery of his experience. All of these anti-war poem s most be analyzed properly to fully understand how their authors present their message. The conventions used by Hardy, Owen and Jarrell in their respective anti-war poems are the essence of their messages against the activity of war, and the analysis of the anti-war theme. First, Thomas Hardy uses both imagery and a switch from first to second person to create an anti-war theme in ââ¬Å"The Man He Killed.â⬠By beginning with the imagery of a peaceful and humble setting, Hardy develops a ââ¬Å"couldââ¬â¢ve beenâ⬠Show MoreRelatedThe Man He Killed by Thomas Hardy701 Words à |à 3 PagesAnalysis of Thomas Hardyââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"The Man He Killedâ⬠In Thomas Hardyââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"The Man He Killed,â⬠the persona writes the piece in first person, giving the story an unknown narrator, and also adding strength and a deeper connection with the reader. Lord of the Flies (All Things Wicked Start from Innocence) free essay sample
All things truly wicked start from an innocence; the innocence of children, the innocence of the hopeful and the innocence of the naive. Comparing the two main characters from Goldingââ¬â¢s Lord of the Flies, Jack and Ralph, we try to understand the true sense of Ralphââ¬â¢s innocence which was stifled on the island, and the innocence within Jack which had been lost way before his arrival on the island. Golding introduces the truly innocent character of Ralph as the story begins and the young boy is elected to lead the boys under him to a good life on the island and a hopeful rescue in the near future. His careless and idealistic attitude projects the true innocence of a child as children see most things around them ideally, being oblivious and overlooking the negatives. Ralphââ¬â¢s innocence is intact and pure as he leads the boys confidently and idealistically for some time. We will write a custom essay sample on Lord of the Flies (All Things Wicked Start from Innocence) or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The character of Jack however projects a previous loss of innocence when we meet him on the island, as we witness his offensive remarks, and though we see no wickedness yet, it is soon to come. It is obvious that the once innocent Jack had an experience which made him see the world in a more negative point of view than intended and through the novel; this presumption disappears as we see exactly how his innocence is destroyed. Humans lose their innocence as they grow older, as they witness new things, as the boys witnessed on the island, which changed their point of view on the world and human society forever. Ralph turned to his power as chief on the island to keep himself innocent and sane, which managed to work for a while, but his innocence was still being taken away little by little. As he witnesses Jack hunt and as he comes to the understanding of what the piece of meat is in front of him his innocence begins to wither away, as does Jackââ¬â¢s. At Jackââ¬â¢s first chance to kill a pig he is resistant and unable to do it as he is still innocent in some sense, and innocence does not associate with murder. Not only is it through the killing of the pig that causes Jackââ¬â¢s innocence to drift, but it is also through his rise to power. Ralph uses his power to maintain stability and innocence, but through power Jack loses his innocence more and more. The final loss of innocence appears through the death of the Simon. Jackââ¬â¢s innocence vanishes the very moment he violently touches Simon, along with the other boys. By the end of the attack which resulted in death, Jackââ¬â¢s wickedness is seen in the form of a dead body of the once innocent and hopeful boy Simon. This event indicates the final disappearance of Jackââ¬â¢s innocence as it takes him from a mistaken, lost boy, to a brutal, wicked man. After the death of Simon, Ralph is no longer seen as an innocent character, but the reasoning is different. To cope with the death of the spirit full Simon Ralph is forced to grow up quickly. This death gives Ralph a sense of bitterness and wickedness as the evils of the world shack him out of innocence. Through both Jack and Ralph we see that all things truly wicked sprout from and innocence, as we watch the previously innocent character of Lord of the Flies lose their innocence and turn to wicked actions. Innocence was lost due to the gain of power, killing of animals and loss of human lives. The original personalities of innocence are engulfed by the bitter and wicked personalities, changing the naive island boys into wicked savages.

Essay on research How Apple Watch Can Spot Heart Issues
Essay on research How Apple Watch Can Spot Heart Issues For more than a year, Apple Watch-based research was conducted by Stanford University in order to figure out whether the device can detect heart issues. The results appeared to be promising even though they canââ¬â¢t be completely accurate. 400,000 volunteers took part in the study but only 0.5 % of device users were warned by Apple Watch that their heart rhythms are irregular. Later on, medical practitioners revealed that 84 % of the notifications concerned episodes of atrial fibrillation, which are signs of the potential development of health issues. In other words, the technology appeared to be capable of avoiding an abundance of false positives, which are undoubtedly the main concern of the research. Besides, it appeared to be reliable enough for the volunteers to make a move and schedule a consultation with a doctor. Those who received alerts agreed to wear an ECG patch for a week and 34 % out of them did show irregularities. About 57 % of the volunteers who saw the warning consulted with a doctor. Itââ¬â¢s important to note that the study used Apple Watches from Series 3 and earlier. Series 4 appeared somewhat later so with its built-in ECG it couldnââ¬â¢t be used for the research. The app was mainly aimed at periodic checks by means of the heart rate sensor for getting notified if something doesnââ¬â¢t function properly. The results that were revealed in the course of the study canââ¬â¢t be fully relied upon. While 84 % is a figure high enough to make the findings trustworthy, a sixth of those who received warning notifications might have no grounds for concern. Besides, it is also possible that people who have atrial fibrillation didnââ¬â¢t receive a notification. The good thing is that the results of testing the Apple Watch device are positive and, hopefully, Apple will continue pushing deeper in the health service.

Criminal Justice Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 9
Criminal Justice - Essay Example Nevertheless there are those who feel violated once their rights are ignored, including in safety situations (Barnett, 54). The main objective of the public order advocates is to protect the law abiding citizen in the society from harm. Such individuals believe that under certain conditions that involve a criminal threat to public order, the societyââ¬â¢s interest ought to take precedence over the individual rights (Barnett, 54). In my opinion, individual rights are important as one can have their individual rights and still keep safety in a society. Individual rights are constitutional and are assured to the citizens under the constitution. Constitutional rights are taken to be basic rights but, not as absolute rights. For instance, one has his freedom of religion unless his religious belief is infringing on the rights of other citizens. For instance, if ones religious beliefs allow him to kill someone as a sacrifice to his God, then his freedom of religion can be restricted (Barnett, 59). Ever since 11 September 2001 there has been a lot of questions on individual rights versus public safety. The Patriot Act has an effect on foreign travelers more than anybody else as it denies due process to the foreigner visitor. This act is not constitutional since the American Government is supposed to give due process to everybody. Law enforcement bodies have to still get a warrant to conduct searches but probable cause is more lenient than before (Barnett, 59). Majority of the people have a belief that individual rights ought to be sacrificed for the safety of the public. However, this is a dangerous move since it insinuates that the government is not supposed to abide by the procedures and policies that are set by the constitution. The import of this is that the government can then become corrupt. The rights of an individual will trump public safety but a peaceful society can still be sustained with no denial of

Yu having found Buddha dirty and unclean felt that a reputed bone from Buddha was a bad sign. Since the royal courts were in themselves divine to bring an unclean relic in them was sacrilege. The reputed Buddha bone was also considered dirty due to the fact it was part of a dead man. The dead had no part in the royal residences or around the king. Great care was taken when discarding a dead body, so disease and uncleanness would not spread. Yu went on to defend this view by asserting that even if Buddha came back and struck him down, his duty was to the king first. Religion and relics came second, Yuââ¬â¢s loyalty was to the

Tommy Hilfiger Versus Ralph Waldo Emerson in the Battle of Conformity :: essays research papers
I turn my head and see a streak of blouse and miniskirt flouncing by, its wearer dark and supple with the tan of a Pittsburgh January and luxuriously blonde from the bottle of her favorite stylist. Her male companion wears a sweater that cost him more than the herd of sheep from whence its essential material came, with baggy blue jeans marked with the name of a certain Hilfiger fellow, and shoes pioneered by one Dr. Martin, likely a prominent podiatrist somewhere in the world. The girl giggles airily and shoves her companion playfully with a hand accented by newly (and plastically) long, manicured, French-tipped nails. A small wonder it is indeed that she did not lose her balance in so doing, for her towering shoes elevate her feet to such an alarming angle that I am scarce able to understand exactly how she is able to walk. à à à à à They continue sauntering along together, linking arms and looking reminiscent of a modeling photo shot for that certain Abero-something-or-other clothing store, only in color and live action. I conjecture the communal price of their clothing and fashionable accessories. On second thought, I do not even want to conjecture; I have quite enough of an idea. ââ¬Å"ââ¬â¢The virtue in most request is conformity,ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ I think to myself, repeating the adage mentioned by Ralph Waldo Emerson in his essay on Self-Reliance, ââ¬Å"and from that standpoint, this is a very ââ¬Ëvirtuousââ¬â¢ couple indeed.â⬠à à à à à Emerson precedes himself in wisdom. I heartily agree with his standpoint on conformity. Society today encourages many different aspects of compliance, but perhaps the most prominent one is conformity of appearance. There are societal standards for males, females, young and old that make them either ideal or outlying, and most of these standards are dependent upon cosmetic appearance. Ours is a superficial society, a manufactured American view of perfect people and perfect beauty thrives almost universally unbounded by resistance, whether passive or powerful. The manners in which people conform to the societyââ¬â¢s image of beauty are many, including cosmetics, fashions of clothing and shoes, hair styles, modish colors; everything down to the size of purse a woman carries is first spotted in a magazine and then purchased and used once deemed to be worthy of public sight. Outlandish fashions become the mode primarily because they are advertised as being ââ¬Å"th e things you simply cannot live without!â⬠It is a universal truth that fashion is a form of ugliness so hideous that it must be changed every four months; but the public is content to stay within the confines of the current trend in order to conform, and not necessarily because the fashion is attractive.

Austria is located in Europe, when Indiaââ¬â¢s location is Asia. First of all I would like to present Austriaââ¬â¢s and Indiaââ¬â¢s nature. Austria is terrestrial land. This country has no access to the sea but with India everything is in different way. India has access not to the sea, but to the ocean. These two countries have one similar thing ââ¬â the mountains. In Austria the mountains are called Alps and in India ââ¬â Himalays. The climate in Austria is continental, the same as in other countries of Europe. In this country there are four seasons in the year. Indiaââ¬â¢s climate is tropical, and it has only three seasons per year. Austriaââ¬â¢s landscape is full of hills, woods and rivers. Indiaââ¬â¢s landscape contains of deserts, jungles and flatlands. So here we can see big differences between my chosen countries. Secondly I would like to present the culture of these countries. Austria is famous by compositors, writers and painters which are known in whole world. In this country there are many theaters, cinemas, shopping centers, museums, galleries and other cultural objects. People in Austria are very businesslike. Many of them most time in the week wears formal clothes. Most of the Austria's population is registered as Roman Catholic by religion. India is very religious country. Everything in India is based on religion. Indian people are very hospitable. Even if they donââ¬â¢t have anything to eat, their guests will never be left hungry. The respect for elders is a major fact in Indian culture. The traditional dress of India is called sari. This dress can be worn by all local festivals. India's diversity is visible in its languages, religions, dance, music, architecture and customs. By the culture India and Austria are very dissimilar, because their history and all traditions came from different ancestries. The third comparisons object is food. Austrian cooking is one of the most varied in Europe and includes German, Hungarian, Czech, and northern Italian dishes. A typical breakfast is coffee or milk with bread and butter or jam. Also they usually eat sausage served with mustard on a hard roll. Lunch is usually the main meal of the day and consists of soup and a main course of meat-sausage, chicken, beef, pork or fish. The best known traditional Austrian foods include Wiener Schnitzel and various elaborate cakes. Indian food is different from rest of the world not only in taste but also in cooking methods. Every single spice used in Indian dishes has purpose not for the taste but also in medicine range. All Indian food is dealt to four categories: East Indian, West Indian, South Indian and North Indian. Indians are always using rice, vegetables, garlic, milk and lots of spices in food preparation. It is not common for Indians to keep leftover food, if it is bought or made in one day it is consumed that same day. In Austria many people make food for at least two days, because they are to busy to make it everyday. Austria and India are very different; including climate, culture and food they have nothing in common.

About The Canadian Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act
The Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act which was passed in 2008, and came into force on May 29, 2010, lets the Canadian government transfer the lighthouses to new owners who want to take advantage of a heritage designation or tourism potential. The act is a result of a private members bill from BC Conservative senator Pat Carney. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans says the lighthouses on the surplus lists are those determined by the Canadian Coast Guard to be ones that could be replaced with simpler structures whose operation and maintenance would be more cost-effective and also former lighthouses that are no longer part of Canadaââ¬â¢s aids to the navigation system. None of the Canadian lighthouses that are currently staffed are on the list, although the Senate Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans is still reviewing staffed lighthouses. With the Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act, the Canadian federal government put nearly 1000 lighthouses on the government surplus list, but about 500 of these lighthouses are still active lighthouses, and another 500 or so are inactive lighthouses. Lighthouses on the lists include lighthouses as notable as the Peggys Cove Lighthouse in Nova Scotia and the Cape Spear Lighthouse near St. Johns Newfoundland. Obtaining a Heritage Designation Individuals, municipalities non-profit groups, and businesses can apply to Parks Canada to get a heritage designation for the lighthouse. The petitions must be signed by 25 Canadians, and a written commitment to acquire ownership and protect the lighthouse must be accepted by Fisheries and Oceans Canada before a heritage designation will be granted. Potential owners must also submit a business plan showing that the proposed use of the property will be economically viable over the long term and that they have the capacity to manage the property. If surplus lighthouses havent been spoken for after two years they will be returned to the holdings of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Coast Guard. Maintaining Aids to Navigation for Surplus Lighthouses Some of the lighthouses on the surplus lists contain aids to navigation, which must be kept operational. For those lighthouses, purchasers have to agree to give Fisheries and Oceans Canada access to the property to allow the department to maintain and operate the aids to navigation.

How to Make Colored Smoke Bombs (That Actually Work)
Regular smoke bombs are easy to makeà and produce stunning, reliable results. You might think making a colored smoke bomb is as easy as adding a chemical that burns with... well... colored smoke. However, it is more complicated than that because most chemicals produce white, brown or at best yellow smoke. There are formulations for colored smoke that involve mixing in a special organic dye that will produce a colored cloud when the dye is vaporized. The project is straightforward, but its trickier to get great results because the goal is to heat the dye, but not ignite it, and then force it into the air. Here are some tips to ensure success. Use an Appropriate Dye You cant burn any old dye for colored smoke bombs! Laundry dye, for example, wont work. Examples of compounds that do work include para-nitroaniline red, auramine (yellow) and synthetic indigo (blue). There are several other dyes that will work. You can mix the dyes to get different colors. Measure by Weight Not Volume The proportions of ingredients are important. The volume of the ingredients may be affected by how they have been processed, so the weight is the best means of measurement. Use Finely Powdered Materials Even if you have the exact chemicals you need, you wont be able to get good results unless the consistency of the mixture is fine enough. This is true for most pyrotechnic formulations, so you may be aware of this. If you arent seeing good results, re-make the mixture, processing the ingredients separately in a coffee or spice mill before mixing them together. Never mill the oxidizer and the fuel in the same container, since a fire may result. Use a separate grinder for chemicals like potassium chlorate and potassium nitrate. Reinforce the Canister for a Smoke Grenade If you are making a smoke grenade, which is intended to shoot out a dense stream of smoke, you need to reinforce the paper or cardboard so that it wont blow apart under pressure, ruining your effect. It is common practice to glue cardboard circles onto the bottom of cylindrical smoke grenades. You can wrap strapping tape or masking tape around the container to give it strength. Tape around the fuse so that the smoke will have a small opening. This will cause the smoke to shoot out further. Bend the Fuse to the Side and Tape It Similarly, you dont want the smoke bomb to blow the fuse out of the canister before the smoke really gets going. If you bend the fuse to the side and tape it down, rather than leaving the fuse standing straight up in the tube, youll reduce the chance that the smoke bomb wont light. Dont worry, the flame will still travel down the taped fuse into the smoke bomb. Disclaimer: Please be advised that the content provided by our website is for EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. Character Analysis An Inspector Calls Essay Example For Students
Character Analysis An Inspector Calls Essay Birling attempts to use status and power to influence the Inspector. He was forever reminding him that he was an ex-mayor and a magistrate. He becomes extremely angry when he is accused of being involved with Evas death. When the truth comes out about Eric getting Eva pregnant and stealing money, Birling is more worried what people will say when it gets out, `youve confessed to theft, and now he knows all about it, and he can bring it out at the inquest. The Birlings are a respectable family; it should be kept that way. He doesnt think that Erics problems could be partly his fault and that his drinking problem is a cry for help. When it turns out that everything could be a hoax. Birling pretends nothing has happened. He hasnt learnt a lesson at all, he thinks if he pretends life is the same and that everything is normal no one will notice anything is wrong. His beliefs have not changed even after that has happened. The Inspectors final speech was that we are all members of one body, we are responsible for each other. And I tell you that the time will soon come when, if men will not learn that lesson, then they will be taught in fire, blood and anguish. The Inspector represents the voice of Priestly. Priestleys main aim in the play was to show what would happen if we didnt work together as a community. The play is there to highlight the problems of class divide as he wanted his audiences to learn something from his plays. The moral of `An Inspector Calls is that no matter what class we are we are all equal and that we must work together. Priestly wanted to get this moral across, I think he did, but unfortunately there will always be people like the Birlings. Character Analysis Firstly, it must be remembered that the Birling Family are guilty of no actual crime, although all have contributed to the downfall of a particular person due to their particular attitudes and beliefs. Therefore it could be said that Eva Smith was simply a victim of her class and time. The idea of the play and particularly the role of the inspector is to try to bring the Birling family to understand that they have a moral responsibility for the death of Eva Smith, if not a legal one. This point is very significant and is the basis of the entire play, to grasp it is imperative to the understanding of the play, without this, an analysis of who is responsible would be far more difficult. Arthur Birling is a self-made man who has built Birling And Company into a successful local business. As the play opens he is celebrating the engagement of his daughter to Gerald Croft, the son of his main business rival in Bromley, Sir George Croft. The marriage suits him and should greatly aid him financially as he believes a merger of the two companies might not be too far off. This is emphasised when he says, This one of the happiest nights of my life perhaps we may look forward to a time when Crofts and Birling are no longer competing but are working together for low costs and higher prices.

Strategic Choices For any company that seeks to integrate its innovations for growth, it must first plan on how it will integrate the innovations with the corporate vision and mission. Kraftââ¬â¢s mission is to gain recognition as the unquestionable leader in the world food market. The marketing, advertising and promotions will help in creating the ââ¬Ëperceived valueââ¬â¢ by customers. It should endeavor to create a niche among consumers by selling directly to them as opposed to the current approach where it sells to retailers. The elimination of distributors and retailers will help streamline the supply chain and effectively lower the costs (Meeta, 2012). By entering new markets, the company will take advantage of the environmental opportunities. There are fewer competitors in the emerging markets. This will allow the company to create customer loyalty for its unique products. In most of the emerging markets, there is relative political stability with less favorable conditions for foreign investors as the countries seek to globalize and attract investors.
